The sad news is that while I was in Haiti my grandmother passed away. So instead of going home I am on my way to Saint Louis, MO. I was able to change my flights to add in a jog over to St. Louis so that I can attend her funeral on Saturday and be with my mom. Please pray for her and the rest of our family. Thank you.
Well the good news is the Haiti mission is now complete and we were able to get everything done plus some. Since my last post Craig, Jacob, and I finished the evaluations and did some battery management in Jereme, Sam rewired the transformer for the JIH system on the other side of Port-au-Prince, and Allen did several more site surveys. We all came back together on Wednesday and were able to install 6 extra solar panels we had for a wonderful missionary couple in Leogane. Jasmine wrote a beautiful summary of their surprise and gratefulness on their ministry Facebook page at Family of Faith Haiti Ministries. It was a great way to finish a mission.

Once again I could not get photos to load here. I was, however, able to get some to load to my Facebook. If you want to see them then go to my Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/terri.macgregor or click here.
Well we have been here in Gressier, Haiti for 5 days now and we have gotten so much accomplished. In fact we have mostly completed the projects planned for this mission already. In the first two days we split up and worked at two sites simultaneously. Sam Garber worked with a few of the guys here at New Life Center on a solar pumping system and I took a couple guys over to Dave's at Reach Global to install a solar electrical system. On the third day we came together here and finished up the water pumping system. Then on Friday we extended a system over at Hope Rising by adding an inverter. We were missing a couple small parts for that system which Allen will pick-up on Monday. We are here till next Thursday so we are, in fact, way ahead of schedule. Because of that we have decided to split up some and touch on some extra jobs.
One of the ministries we worked with a year or so ago in Jereme, on Haiti's west coast, has asked us to come look at their system. So Craig, Jacob, and I are flying to Jereme on Monday and then returning here on Wednesday. Sam will get to spend some time with his brother who lives here in Haiti and then make some changes to another system on the other side of Port-au-Prince on Monday. When he gets back here he and Allen will add the missing parts to the Hope Rising system and maybe even install another 6 solar panels for another missionary couple who desperately need them. We may help to finish that when we return on Wednesday. And then Thursday we go back to the States. So this is turning out to be a very productive mission, Praise God, and I've even learned a few new tricks :D Oh, do keep us in your prays though because there has been a big breakout of a disease called chikungunya. Its not really fatal, but it does cause weeks of pain and fever, which is something we could do without. Thank you for your prayers and to God be the glory !! BTW, I tried to load some pics for you, but that is simply not gonna happen tonight. The internet is just too slow. I will try again tomorrow. On my way to Haiti. I'm in the Miami airport waiting for my flight. Keep the team in your prayers please. We have a lot to do in the next 11 days. Thank you and God bless!
So I am going back to Haiti for another SLP mission. We are returning to the Gressier area, west of Port-au-Prince, for several systems. We will be installing a large solar water pumping system for an orphanage, a regular sized system for a mission guest house, and expanding a system for a missionary home. In addition to that we will do several site surveys for future projects and investigate current issues. We'll be in Haiti from June 16th till the 26th, plus I'll have an overnight in Miami both ways. Please keep us in your prayers. We are going to have a very busy, and HOT, 11 days. Thank You !! :)
USA flights have been booked :D Sutton and I will be going to the States for a few weeks this summer to visit family and meet with our church. We will be in Houston from July 15th till the 30th. On the 30th we'll fly to Saint Louis to see more family. We return to Honduras on August 4th, though we won't be home till the 5th. We have an overnight in Miami both going to and leaving the States. I was able to get at lease one flight using miles, so the overnights aren't a big deal. We're really looking forward to seeing everyone.
Back in Teguc and back to the grind. I am working on designs for two different systems in Haiti. I'm watching flight prices for a couple trips, one to the States in July and one to Columbia in late Summer. There are also several other potential missions on the calender (recently updated) and even some not yet listed. In addition to that, we are working an earth day event hosted by the US Embassy on Friday, our church has a family day tomorrow, and I've been asked to be a judge at the TCA science fair next Friday. Still on the to-do list is finishing my 2013 taxes (yes I applied for an extension), post photos for several missions (last years missions and Panama), and renew my NABCEP certification (it expires next month). At least I don't think I am traveling anywhere in May, neither with-in Honduras or beyond, so hopefully I can get Caught Up. :D
On the up-side, Craig did post some photos from the workshop this past weekend. I have included a few pics below, but you can also go here to see the full album. Having breakfast at the Miami international airport. Training this weekend went great. We had a good turnout and the students seemed well engaged. There were lots of good questions throughout and much interest in the upcoming Spanish River missions to both Haiti and Columbia. I also had some great fellowship with the wonderful people at Spanish River. I look forward to going back in future years. But for now I'm happy to be going back home to Honduras and my sweet hubby :-D
I am now at my host home in Boca Raton, FL after a somewhat eventful day. This morning was a little nerve racking as I wasn't sure I was going to make my flight. I had to get an extension on my visa which means leaving my passport with the immigration office. Last week was Semana Santa (Holy Week) so most of the country was off work. The earliest I could take my passport to the immigration office was this Monday. So I took it in and told the lady that I had a flight booked for today and she assured me my passport would be ready to pickup at 9 am this morning. But of course when we went in to get it they did not have it ready. At first the lady could not find it. Then they found it in a stack awaiting the directors signature but were reluctant to take it to the director. So we basically stood there and harassed them until they got annoyed with us enough to go to the directors office. At this point it was already 10:20 and I had to be at the airport by 10:40. I sent out a prayer request and 5 minutes later the lady came back with my completed passport. I was able to get to the airport and through security before my flight started boarding. Praise God !!
Then during the flight my neighbor told me the man and woman sitting in front of us was the President and First Lady of Honduras. Apparently their staff was sitting in first class but they wanted to stay in the economy section. My neighbors spoke to them some and then introduced me. They even let us take photos with them on the plane. So I went from having to harass clerks at the immigration office to shaking hands with the President. Talk about an interesting day :-D So I have another flight tomorrow. I am joining Allen in Florida for few days. We are teaching a solar workshop at Spanish River Church in Boca Raton. There is a link for the event here. Craig Kindell, the missions director at Spanish River, has joined us on several missions and has even lead a solar mission himself. Craig made the arrangements for this workshop with equipment purchased for a mission to Haiti and another to Columbia. Some of the attendants will be the missionaries who will be installing these systems after they are shipped. We did a similar workshop there last year with another team going to Haiti and had a great turnout. So we have high expectations for this one. Also, I'll be able to get a few State-side goodies to bring back with me, which is actually perfect timing because we just ran out of Chipotle Tabasco :D
