Called to Honduras

Sutton and I have felt the call to move to Honduras confirmed and reconfirmed. Though the plans seem to become more uncertain. We were going to go to Honduras in June with a SLP team. While there we were planning on sitting down with Tseboath, the church we feel lead to serve with, to discuss our move and ministry possibilities there. However, the team has been unsuccessful in raising the funds for the schools, so that trip is cancelled. We have plans to move in with a family for starters. Now that family is struggling to keep their house and are having to make hard decisions. In addition to all that, the reported dangers in Honduras have only gotten worse over the past year. Several ministries have pulled out or are putting their trips there on hold.

Yet despite all this, we have felt the call from God to move there, strengthen. So we are going. Exactly when? I don't know. (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Still feeling fourth quarter of this year or maybe even sooner. Where will we live? I don't know. (Psalms 32:8) Hoping we can stay with the same family and be a help to them. What exactly will we be doing? I don't know. (Ephesians 2:10) God's ministry. Am I still going to be doing solar installations? I sure hope so. I love doing it. (Psalm 37:4) If nothing else there are 87 solar systems in Honduras that could use some checking up on. How on earth are we going to pay bills? I don't know. (Philippians 4:19) Are we still going? Yes. Are we crazy? Probably. (Proverbs 3:5-6) We cannot let fear divert us from the path God is leading us down. What kind of Christ follower would we be if we did that? (Matthew 10:38-39) How can you help us? PRAYER, PRAYER ... and some more PRAYER. Financial support is also very much needed. If you feel led to give please email me your pledge. I will contact you with account details when we have that part ironed out.

  • Psalms 32:8 NIV ~ I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
  • Ephesians 2:10 NLT ~ For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago
  • Psalm 37:4 ESV ~ Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
  • Philippians 4:19 NASB ~ And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
  • Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV ~Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
  • Matthew 10:38-39 NLT ~ If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.

Well, I already have another flight booked. This one is a short State-side trip in May. Allen and I will be teaching a SLP solar powered workshop at Spanish River Church in Florida. We have worked with their short term mission coordinator on a couple projects already. In-fact he and one other joined us for a week on the latest Haiti mission. This workshop will help prepare future mission trippers to participate in one of  several potential solar projects related to SRC church plants. The workshop registration is here if anyone in the Florida area is interested or if you just want some more info about the workshop itself.

Back from Haiti

I am now back in the States. The three weeks in Haiti turned out to be quite full. In the end, we did 5 1/2 installs in three weeks. These are not like the small systems we do for schools in Honduras. These are the much larger, much more complex systems that often include incorporating a generator or grid or both. The team worked many long tiring days to get it all accomplished. By the grace of God we were successful !! Here are a couple pics from the our second location, the OLTCH (Operation Love The Children Haiti) orphanage, and one short video. More to come :D

In Haiti

Well Brad, Cathy, and I have been here in Gressier, Haiti for almost a week now. We are staying at the guest house at HHM and working on the system here and over at OLTCH. We are making good progress on both  systems. We have all twelve additional solar panels on the roof at HHM and the control system is installed over at OLTCH. I'm already rocking a well defined farmers tan :D The temps have been pretty warm, but God has smiled on us a few time with some clouds and breeze. So far we've only run across the typical challenges, but no show stoppers. Allen will be bringing some more pieces we need to complete the installs. He will be arriving on Tuesday along with two more guys to help get the work done here in Gressier. In the mean  time I'll focus on wiring the solar panels at HHM and maybe doing some more over at OLTCH. But not today. Today is Sunday and God said we should rest :D

Here are a couple pics so far:
