I will post a more detailed account of our plans and objectives as they develop. I will also add a page to the site specifically for this and change up the "Support Me" section to include options for specifying your donations. But those changes will have to wait till after the Haiti mission. So keep your eyes peeled come early May :) And please pray pray pray !! We will need a lot of help and spiritual discernment. But we're so very EXCITED !!!
Another thing I've been working on is getting together plans for moving to Honduras. For those of you who don't know, Sutton and I will be MOVING to the wonderful country of Honduras towards the end of this year. The Lord had called us there as full-time missionaries in addition to the SLP solar work. I will continue with traveling to other countries, but our new base/home will be Honduras, which of course cuts down on the travel cost for missions to that particular country :)

Well, we're down to crunch week for the Haiti mission. I've been reviewing the parts lists for the 4 different systems we will be installing and placing orders for the extra parts needed. There are now 6 or 7 boxes of stuff coming my way in addition to the 3 I've already received. And I'll be hitting the electrical supply store tomorrow and probably a hardware store on Monday. I'm pretty certain I'm already over the 50lb limit on my check-in, so it looks like I'll be paying for a second bad. And that's not including clothes; I have learned how to get 3 weeks worth of mission clothes into a single carry-on :D
The previously shipped equipment has already arrived and been cleared from customs, praise God! We've also added two more members to the team, one of which is an electrician. They will only join us for a week, but it will be a great help in trying to accomplish 4 complex installs in just 3 weeks. Things are really shaping up and I'm getting excited :D It's been months since my last mission. We take off next Tuesday. Keep us in your prayers !! For those of you who mail checks, the SLP office has moved and gotten a new number. The address is:
SonLight Power 7100 Dixie Highway Fairfield, OH 45014 (513) 285-9960 I am back from Sacramento, CA. I had a wonderful visit with some friends in Sacramento and attended the NABCEP Continuing Education Conference. The conference was very helpful and taught me some more things about installing solar. Hopefully we can make a few changes for better solar installations. There is always room for improvement :) The Haiti trip is coming together. The equipment has been shipped and is clearing customs now. System plans are being reviewed, parts are being ordered, wire is being purchased, tool lists are getting prepped, and in-country schedule is being determined, which is always subject to change :) So in other words, normal preparations are taking place. We are due to leave in just under three weeks. Allen is trying to find another person to perhaps join us, but we'll see what God does. Remember to keep us in your prayers please. We have booked our flights to Haiti. I will be there from April 2nd till the 23rd with a couple from Pennsylvania. Allen will be joining us on the 9th. We have a pretty ambitious schedule with 4 systems in three weeks. We will be installing systems for OLTCH (Operation Love The Children Haiti), HHM (Haiti Health Ministries), JiH (Jesus in Haiti), and LCM (Life Connection Mission).
OLTCH is an orphanage in Gressier. Their solar system will be replaced as it is old and inadequate for their needs. HHM is also in Gressier. They are a large clinic/hospital that we have visited a couple times already. This trip we will install an additional 12 solar panels to their current system. JiH is in the suburbs of Port-au-Prince and runs a number of ministries including an orphanage, a church, a couple schools, feeding those who live at a trash dump, and various other things. We will be installing a system at their main complex. LCM runs an orphanage, school, Pastoral training, clinic, and feeding programs among other things. There we will update/expand their system at their main complex and add a system to their school building. Please keep us in your prayers. We were also talking about going to install a couple panels at a clinic near Cap Haitian. However the solar panels that were sent have been stolen. I don't yet know how that issue will be resolved. |
