A Week in Honduras

10/21/2013

Well, I've been here for a little over a week and I've gotten about half my immediate task list done. Our host family is having car issues .... imagine that :) I now have a new cell number (Honduran number) and a MagicJack phone number (US Number). My Honduran number is 9734-3888. From the States that would be 011-504-9734-3888. This will ring my cell phone. The MagicJack is a phone line with a US number connected via the internet (VOIP). The number is 281-993-6366. It will ring to a handset in the house. I'll get our old handset with an answering machine when I go back for Christmas.

So, if you need to contact me, there are now several ways. You can call/text my Honduran number (though it will cost you, even for a text, since it is an international number). You can call the MJ and talk if we are home. Or, if you have a smart phone, you can message me on Viber. It's an app for both Android and iPhone. The app icon is a purple message bubble with a phone inside. My account is linked to my US cell number (859-420-8538), so if you have that in your contact list, my name should pop up on the app. Sutton is also on Viber (with his old US number). Then there are the usual ways to connect: email and facebook.

Our next biggest hurdles are getting our Honduran residency (takes 3-6 months) and buying a car. The residency/work visa is in process for Sutton and will hopefully be started soon for me. The church is handling this for us (Thank You Jesus !!). We should probably get Honduran drivers licenses too ... :). The car purchase will likely take some fund raising. Our current budget doesn't get a very good vehicle. We are looking at options now. Keep praying for us please. Thank you !!

Finally Living in Honduras !!!!!!!!! :D

So I finally arrived in Honduras Saturday morning after a very long week of last minute selling, storing, and packing. My husband was ecstatic to see me again after nearly three months apart !! Before leaving, SonLight Power gave me a very nice set of Samsonite luggage (to replace my dirty, beat-up falling apart pieces) which made the trip much easier. I also got a few toys such as an iPod (to replace my broken one), and a Kindle (since I am an avid reader and my 300+ books are hard to transport). The Abide group (young adult group from Ethos, our church in TX) threw me a going away party Friday night. And then I had a surprise welcome party here in Honduras Sunday night. Soooo I am Blessed !! :D Thank you to everyone for the blessings, encouragement, and prayers offered for myself and my husband!! We are forever grateful.

Also, Ethos (church in TX) has agreed to be our conduit for financial support. They will accept donations on our behalf and send it to us once a month or so. That way anyone who feels so led will have an easy way to support us which will be tax deductible. Once they get our account set-up I will post the address and a link to an online PayPal account. So this way, if anyone wants to support me or Sutton as missionaries here in Honduras, they can send the donations to Ethos (marked for the MacGregors). I will still be doing missions with SonLight Power as God allows. So any donations going to my account with SonLight will continue to be used for travel expenses on missions taken with them.

Please continue to pray for us as we walk out this whole missionaries in Honduras thing. We ask that God would open the doors He wants open, shut the doors He wants shut, and continue to give us more wisdom and discernment as each challenge arises. May He receive all the glory and the honor in the precious name of Jesus !!! Amen.

Well, I am on the plane headed to Haiti. I didn't get a chance to do an update before leaving. But, I will be there for two weeks doing a solar installation for Alex's Orphanage in a town called Damien (just north of Port-au-Prince) and another for Hands and Feet Ministries in Jacmel. I will return to Houston on Oct 1st.

Also, I did book my flight for the move to Honduras. I will be flying down on Saturday Oct 12th :-D Yay God !!

Haiti Flights are Booked + Updates

So we have booked our Sept flights for Haiti. We will be there for two weeks from Sept 17th till Oct 1st. We are doing at least two installs. I will post another blog next week with more details.

What I've been mainly focused on since coming home is the move to Honduras. Sutton is doing well in Teguc, though he sorely misses me :) I am feverishly trying to sell off stuff and pack up what little we are keeping. So far we have sold the bedroom furniture, the lawn mower, the couches, all the old audio equipment and vinyl records. There are already arrangements for selling the futon, the large toolbox, and some musical instruments this week. Currently I have listed on Craigslist a coffee table, the kitchen table w/ chairs, the BBQ pit, a file cabinet, and a shelf/storage unit thingy. You can go to the Houston section and just search for my phone number (859 420 8538) to see what all I have listed. I will also be selling the car, though that isn't currently listed. Next Saturday I hope to have a garage sell and possibly another the Saturday after that. Right now I am planning on flying to Honduras on Oct 9th, a week after I return from Haiti. I will book that ticket in the next two weeks.

Keep praying for us please. Pray for Sutton as he is in Honduras teaching and trying to adjust. Pray for me as I am taking care of all the house stuff. Pray for the Haiti mission to go smoothly. And above all, pray that God's will be done and He receive all the glory!! Thank you Jesus for faithful prayer warriors :D

I got back to the US late last night. The two weeks in Honduras were amazing!! I am ready to sell off everything and get back there permanently ! We had a few meetings with the pastors and leaders of Tsebaoth Ministries in Teguc and they have welcomed us with open arms. Sutton will be starting a teaching job at Tsebaoth's private school in a few weeks. I have a few more missions this year, but I may be teaching there next semester. There is also some potential to get solar work in country. We will see what God does :D

For right now, I have to get ready for the next mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I just mailed off my passport to the Congolese embassy in Washington DC for my visa. Praying everything will go smoothly and it will get back to me next week before my flight out ... on FRIDAY !! I will be gone from July 26th till August 11th. So Pray Pray Pray. And thank you so much for your support !!

We arrived safely in Tegucigalpa yesterday and are now at the Moncada's wonderful home. Today we are going to Choluteca with a group from Isaiah 61 to do some ministry at Pastor Cesar's church. We will be back in Teguc tomorrow. We are already scheduled to meet with the pastors of Tseboath on Sunday to discuss expectations and share our hearts. And then the week long EPI (intensive prophetic school) starts on Monday. This is going to be a great trip !! Keep us in your prayers please, that God would open the doors He wants open and shut the doors He wants shut. We live to serve Him, and it's scary/Awesome/EXCITING :-D

Updates: Honduras, Haiti, and the Congo

6/26/2013

There have been several things in the works over the past couple weeks, but only a few things are firm. We are leaving for Honduras next Thursday (July 4th) and returning two weeks later (July 18th). We were trying to get together a one week trip to Haiti before Honduras, but problems with shipping and customs did not make this possible. So I believe Allen will go to Haiti without me while Sutton and I are in Honduras. Then there is a trip to the Congo that we've been trying to schedule for the last couple summers. However, the past several summers have seen too much violence and unrest to make a trip there possible. This year seems to be the one to finally go and we may be booking flights very soon :D We are currently planning on going from July 26th till August 10th ..... which means I need to get my yellow fever immunization before I leave for Honduras.

The Congo trip is quite expensive and currently I do not have enough in my account to cover it in addition to the Honduras flight. Sutton also needs to raise funds for the Honduras trip as we are personally quite strapped. If you would like to help with my Honduras or Congo expenses then please go to the "Support Us" tab and click on the "Donate Now" button. If you would like to help us with Sutton's flight to Honduras then please donate on his SLP page or click here: www.sonlightpower.org/sutton

Also, obviously prayer in much needed. We need prayer for the Honduras trip, that God would give us clarity as we speak to the pastors and try to solidify moving dates. We need prayer for Haiti that He would help get the equipment out of customs and that the installation goes well. And we most definitly need prayer for the Congo trip, for provision, for travel mercy's, for team safety, and for a successful mission. Thank you everyone for your prayers and support !! You have no idea how much of a help you truly are :D May God bless you abundantly !!

Flight Booked to Honduras :D

Sutton and I have booked flights for our preliminary trip to Honduras !! We are going to Honduras for two weeks in July to meet with the pastors and start the moving process. While there we will determine our move date and get more of those details solidified. We will also be attending the prophecy school at the church (Tsebaoth) in Teguc. I attended this school last year and loved it. However, it is way too much information to grasp one time through. So I am looking forward to a second go around. One great thing is that they let you take it as many additional times as you want for free :)
