The training workshop in Florida turned out really well. We had over 20 participants, which is alot more than we expected, especially considering the invites went out by word of mouth and a few emails. We had the group split up into three teams and they each rotated through a station for building the control board, putting together the batteries, and assembling the solar panels. At the end, we brought everyone together for commissioning the system (fancy word for turning it on). There was much excitement when they saw the solar system that they had built running a fan. I even heard a lady point to the wires that she and another woman had installed and exclaim that they had done that :) That equipment will be shipped down to an orphanage in Haiti. Some of them may even go to see the final installation. But they all had a hand in building it, which I know is a great feeling. Thanks Craig and Allen for the photos. More are posted on the Spanish River Church site here.

Welp, I'm headed to Florida. Allen and I are teaching a SLP solar workshop at Spanish River Church near Fort Lauderdale. We will be building and showing them how to install a small system that they will take to an orphanage in Haiti. We also get to visit with some missionaries from a couple previous Haiti trips. While there, I will be staying with a Honduran family. So that's cool. :-) I'll be back home on Sunday.
My trip to OH went well. The SLP Celebration Dinner was a success. We had a good turnout and I got to visit with lots of SLP peeps :) I also got to spend some time visiting with dear friends and family in Lexington, KY where I lived for almost 6 years.
Next week I'll be going to Sacramento, CA for some more solar training. I'll be taking 3 days of solar courses which will fulfill the continuing education requirements for my NABCEP certification. The next mission trip is also shaping up. We'll be going back to Haiti for three weeks in April. The flights aren't booked quite yet, but they will be soon. Hopefully I'll be able to post actual dates and list of projects later this week. I am flying to Ohio for the SonLight Power 11th Anniversary Celebration Dinner. I will be there from Feb 7th to the 16th. I will be answering questions at the dinner, meeting with members of SLP, visiting friends and family in the area, and I'm certain that Allen will find some solar work for me to do as well :) On the 16th I will fly back home to Houston. Originally it was thought that we'd fly directly from Ohio to a mission in Haiti, but the equipment has been held up in shipping (surprise surprise) and so we decided to wait a bit more. We will go to Haiti in March after I take a short trip to California for some more solar training.
